We rented a cabin in the mountains of Virginia to escape the craziness between Christmas and New Years Eve in the big city. It was hard to capture how secluded we were from the ground, and just how far away from the hustle and bustle we were. I went out with my brother recently, hiking along the Blue Ridge Parkway in Blowing Rock, NC. He loves the mountains but rarely visits, so we spend as much time as possible outside when he makes his way out west. He took a minute to breathe about halfway up the trail at Rough Ridge.

Backpacked late Friday after work to a spot in Linville Gorge North Carolina. It was rainy and really foggy on the hike in that night. We woke up the next morning to clear skies and once we got out of our tent we saw the clouds engulfing the mountain top. Definitely an amazing experience!

Growing up on the coast I never thought I would ever want to be away from the ocean. But when I came to the mountains for the first time, 5 years ago, that all changed. I am in awe every time I go there. This time was no different. The first getaway trip with the wife ( @just.the.letter.kay ) was an experience I will never forget. Seeing the splendor of Gods creation with the person you love most is something I will never grow tired of.
